Why visit Cornwall in July?

Five reasons to come down in July

  1. Swim season is on. Sea temperatures around West Cornwall keep climbing through July (peaking in mid-August), but by now they’re firmly into swimmable territory. Bracing rather than balmy, but a quick dip is the best wake-up call there is.
  2. The longest, lightest days of the year. Sunrise around 5.30am, sunset gone 9pm. More day, more Cornwall.
  3. Coast path and gardens in full swing. Wildflowers all the way along the cliffs, gardens at peak bloom, and every coastal café open and trading.
  4. Festival season. Lafrowda in St Just, Minack Theatre under the stars, plus a calendar of village fêtes, regattas and live music nights.
  5. Quieter than August. Early and mid-July sit before the main school-holiday rush. You get summer Cornwall, with a bit more elbow room.

Where you’ll stay

A wide range of self-catering accommodation across the estate. Holiday apartments, bungalows, cottages, barn conversions and our one-of-a-kind Summerhouse.

Every property comes with the essentials sorted: fully equipped kitchen, TV, bath and/or shower, bed linen and duvets provided, gas and electricity included. Pet-friendly accommodation available, so the dog comes too.

What’s on in July

Local events worth timing your break around

Always worth a quick double-check before you set off, dates and details can shift.

Minack Theatre, Porthcurno The world’s most beautiful open-air theatre, perched on the cliffs above Porthcurno beach, with a packed July programme. 2026 highlights include Dear Evan Hansen from the British Theatre Academy, plus a rolling line-up of live music, comedy and family shows almost every night of the month.

Lafrowda Festival, St Just West Cornwall’s much-loved community arts festival is back in 2026 after a year off, building up to Lafrowda Day with parades, willow sculptures, music and a torchlit procession through the town. A genuine one-off, and unmistakeably Cornish.

Summer evenings on the estate The Old Forge Bar is open through July if you’d rather end the day a little closer to home, with the indoor heated pool and sauna just a short stroll away.
