Let’s visit… St Ives

We may not be able to guarantee the weather during your stay with us but we can say for certain that you won’t get bored.

With its stunning beaches and top family attractions, there’s simply so much to see and do in Cornwall, whenever you decide to visit.

But, away from the theme parks and golden stretches of sand, Cornwall also has another major draw for visitors… it’s many idyllic destinations.

Handily, here at Kenegie Manor, our Cornwall holiday park is only a short distance from some of the county’s most picturesque locations. One of our favourites nearby is the town of St Ives.

Perched on Cornwall’s north coast, St Ives is a must visit for anyone choosing to stay with us. Located just over 6 miles away and straightforward to get to, St Ives has so much to offer. It has won a host national awards (including best family holiday destination) and is regarded as one of the top 10 beach destinations in Europe.

Our Penzance self-catering accommodation is the perfect base from which to explore this beautiful resort and surrounding area.

What is there to see and do in St Ives?

St Ives has a reputation as destination for art lovers and it has been a source of inspiration for some of the world’s greatest painters, sculptors and ceramists.
Some of our favourite things to do in St Ives include…

  • Visit the Tate St Ives gallery: Opened in 1993, the Tate gallery in St Ives [LINK] is one of only four in the world and recognsies the international importance of art in Cornwall and St. Ives in particular. The gallery holds hundreds of works produced by the St Ives School from the 1800s to the present day.
  • Head to the shops: St Ives is a great place if you love to exercise your credit card regularly… It’s narrow, cobbled streets are home to an abundance of independent, boutique shops selling all manner of wares.
  • Grab a drink or a bite to eat…and relax: As well as its artistic prowess, St Ives also has a reputation as the place to go for great food in stunning surrounds. And we couldn’t agree more! Here you’ll find a fantastic selection of cafes, restaurants and pubs where you can enjoy a fantastic meal or enjoy a drink looking out over the Atlantic…
  • Take a boat trip to see the marine wildlife: For decades people have taken boat trips out from the sea to the aptly-named Seal Island, which is located 3½ miles (6km) to the West of St Ives. It is home to more than 40 seals.
  • Head to the beach! Enjoy a family day at the beach building sand castles, playing in the rock pools or if you’re feeling adventurous grab a surfing lesson from the local surf school. There’s some great beaches nearby for you to choose from including Porthmeor, Porthgwidden, Porthminster and the Harbour beach.
