(According to me. I live here. I know things.)
-
Because Cornwall still knows how to slow down.
You arrive stressed. You leave wondering why you ever rushed anywhere. -
Because coming back to Kenegie Manor feels like returning to a favourite jumper.
Comfortable. Familiar. Slightly improved since last time. -
Because the light in Cornwall is different.
Softer. Kinder. Makes everyone look like they’ve had eight hours’ sleep. -
Because the walk to St Michael’s Mount never gets old — even when you’ve done it before.
Especially when the sea politely moves out of the way. -
Because the South West Coast Path exists purely to remind you that emails are not that important.
The views win every argument. -
Because every “scenic route” sign in Cornwall is telling the truth.
You’ll be late. You’ll forgive yourself. -
Because Minack Theatre is still outrageously dramatic — even when nothing’s happening.
I approve of drama. I am a cat. -
Because the Eden Project proves that optimism can be grown indoors.
Also: very warm. I like warmth. -
Because villages like Mousehole make you forget what day it is.
This is a compliment. -
Because Newlyn and Penzance still do food that tastes like someone actually cared.
Fish. Chips. Puddings. End of argument -
Because the sea in Cornwall has moods — and somehow all of them are good for you.
Even the moody ones. -
Because gardens like Trebah Garden and Lost Gardens of Heligan make humans go very quiet.
I enjoy this. -
Because beaches like Kynance Cove still make grown adults say “wow” out loud.
Repeatedly. Without shame. -
Because the Lizard Peninsula feels like the edge of everything — in a good way.
Excellent thinking spot. -
Because the Jubilee Pool exists for people braver than me.
I supervise from a safe distance. -
Because Cornwall is very good at reminding you that simple things are usually the best things.
Sea air. Good walks. Early nights. Late breakfasts. -
Because coming back somewhere you already love takes zero effort — and gives maximum joy.
A highly efficient arrangement. -
Because future-you deserves something nice to look forward to.
And future-you is often under-appreciated. -
Because booking early with a low deposit is what wise creatures do.
Secure the good spot. Relax for months.
This is what we call cat-that-got-the-cream thinking 😼 -
And finally — because I will still be here.
Same paths. Same watchful eyes.
Slightly older. Definitely wiser.
Still expecting Dreamies.
