Take a trip to West Cornwall and you leave behind the busy tourist destinations and instead discover the many tiny fishing villages and small settlements dotted around the coast. Explore the farthest reaches of the UK mainland, where in some cases you have to leave the car behind and travel on foot to reach your destination.
From long walks on beautiful beaches and cliff-top strolls overlooking breathtaking scenery, to travelling to the end of the UK mainland at Land’s End – there’s something for everyone.
However, Kenegie Manor is also ideally located for you to explore the more well-known aspects of Cornwall, from the major attractions of the Eden Project, Flambards, Minack Theatre and Blue Reef Aquarium to the popular destinations of St Ives, Falmouth, Newquay and Truro.
So, do you think that little happens in Cornwall outside the peak summer season? We may be outside the August weeks but that doesn’t mean there still isn’t plenty to see and do. Cornwall has a jam-packed events calendar in June and July and here’s just some of our favourites that you won’t want to miss…
No visit to Cornwall in early June is complete without a trip to the Royal Cornwall Show. Cornwall’s flagship event since 1793, the RCS gives a fantastic glimpse into Cornish life, with livestock judging, flowers, food, arts, crafts and hundreds of trade stands to visit.
One of the biggest festivals in West Cornwall, the Golowan Festival in Penzance attracts big crowds! This is a community celebration of the traditional Feast of St. John and the festival has a packed programme of artists in celebration of music, performing arts & theatre.
The Lafrowda Festival is another popular event taking place nearby. This annual gathering celebrates community arts with twelve hours of free entertainment to suit every taste, with street performers, stalls, refreshments, bouncy castles and three spectacular processions.
Stithians Agricultural Show is an extremely popular event in mid Cornwall, and is akin to a mini Royal Cornwall Show. Shining a light on rural life in Cornwall, there’ s also musical entertainment, food courts, craft stalls, a fairground, and animals of all sorts including rare breeds, a dog show and dog agility & agility exhibitions, equestrian events – a full day out for the whole family.
